Expansion & Remodeling
Everyone is invited to attend a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Guadalupe Extended Campus expansion and remodel, on Thursday morning, July 26, 2007, at 9 a.m.
The South Mountain Community College Guadalupe Center was established in 1989 to serve the higher education needs of the Town of Guadalupe and surrounding neighborhoods. In 2000, a new permanent home for the Guadalupe Center was constructed, as part of the Town of Guadalupe Multi-Purpose Center.
Now, in 2007, ground will be broken for the next phase of the Guadalupe Extended Campus, a 5,000 square foot expansion and remodel of its existing space, as the center enters its 20th year of service to the community.
Construction is expected to begin August 6, with completion anticipated in June 2008. The Fall 2008 semester will see the first classes offered at the newly remodeled site. The campus will then total more than 10,000 square feet. The project was designed by the architectural firm of Fucello Architects.
“With such a significant addition of new space and renovation of our existing classrooms, we will have what is essentially a whole new campus,” states Guadalupe Director Raúl S. Monreal, Jr.
The SMCC Guadalupe Center is located at 9233 S. Avenida del Yaqui (Priest Drive), just south of Guadalupe Road. To contact the Guadalupe Campus, call 602.243.8217.
